BICENTENARY OF GENEVA JOINING THE SWISS CONFEDERATION

1814 is an essential year for Geneva. It is about to become the 22nd canton of Switzerland. 31st of December 1813: the Declaration of Independence of Geneva is proclaimed in the streets. After almost 15 years of annexation, the French troops of Napoleon, chased by the Austrian army, have left the city. The final treaty is signed on the 19th of May 1815.
